When I was little, my best friend always told me drowning was the worst way to die

She would know best of course, she barely lasted 3 minutes before the current drew her under and took her to her new home in the sky. I remember the day like it was yesterday, the sun was shining and the birds were singing, but all I could think about was my best friend who was gone.

I had always looked up to her, she was so brave and strong, and I wanted to be just like her. I never imagined that I would lose her so soon. We had made plans to go swimming together that day, but she had gone ahead of me and never came back.

I thought about her every day, wondering what she would have said if she was still here. I knew she would have told me to be strong and to never give up, but I just couldn’t help but feel like I was all alone in the world.

I had never felt so alone before, and I never wanted to feel that way again. I knew that I would never forget her, but I also knew that I had to move on. I had to be brave and find a way to keep going, even without her.

The days passed and the pain slowly faded away, but the memory of my best friend never did. I will always remember her, and the way she told me that drowning was the worst way to die.
