How could I know my best friend would drown after jumping in to save me because he really couldn’t swim. It was supposed to be a harmless joke, pretending that I couldn’t swim, and my friend believed it. Even though he himself wasn’t the strongest swimmer, he jumped in without a second thought to rescue me from the deep waters. I struggled to reach the surface, but his body never emerged. The innocence of a friend’s trust and the folly of a joke suddenly turned deadly. I still hear his screams echoing in my mind every time I stand near a body of water.
