As I stumbled out of the dank dungeon, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. It was like my captor had left some horrible stain on my soul, something that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I took a deep breath of fresh air, finally free from the dark place that had been my home for who knew how long. But as I looked around, I realized with a sinking feeling that I had no idea where I was. The trees around me were gnarled and twisted, the sky dark and foreboding. What was going on? Had my kidnapper just dumped me in some remote forest to die? The rustling in the underbrush behind me made me turn around, and I knew that I was not alone.
