*ring* *ring* Hi daddy, mommy took me shopping today for a guide cane so I could start learning how to walk on my own!

We’re coming back home right now, but you should help mommy because I don’t think we’re on the right path, and mommy won’t talk to me. These words echoed in Andrew’s head as he picked up the phone. His heart was beating fast, and he didn’t know why. His daughter Emily was blind since birth, and her mother took her shopping for a guide cane. They were supposed to come back home by now, but they didn’t. Andrew kept calling, and no one answered.

He decided to go looking for them. As he wandered around the neighborhood, he heard a rustling sound behind him, but when he turned around, no one was there. He tried to call his wife again, but there was no answer. Suddenly, he heard a faint sound of footsteps, and then he heard Emily’s voice, “Daddy, where are you?”

Relieved, he asked, “Emily, where are you? I’ve been trying to call you guys for hours.”

There was a short pause before Emily said, “I’m not sure, Daddy. Mommy won’t tell me where we are.”

Andrew started walking faster towards the voice, but the footsteps he had heard earlier intensified. He turned back and froze in terror. He saw a group of people, but they weren’t human. They were tall, with long limbs that bent in odd ways, and their eyes were glowing.

As Andrew stumbled back, they approached him, and he realized that his family was gone. Emily’s voice was still on the phone, summoning him to come closer. But, he knew that it was a trap, and he started running in the opposite direction.

The creatures followed him, and as they got closer, Andrew closed his eyes and prayed for a miracle. Suddenly, he felt something heavy hit him, and he opened his eyes to find his wife and Emily standing in front of him.

“We took a wrong turn somewhere, but we found our way back,” they said, smiling.

Andrew could’ve sworn that he saw something else, but he pushed the thoughts aside, glad to have his family back.
