My blood ran cold when she smiled at the empty seat across from me, set down a kids’ menu, and walked away. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about her. As I scanned the menu, I noticed that there were no prices listed. I shrugged it off and decided to order the special of the day. When she returned with my food, she didn’t say a word. She just smiled that same unnerving smile and walked away again. As I ate, I couldn’t help but feel like I was being watched. When I glanced up, I saw the empty seat across from me was now occupied by a child. But there was something strange about the child. Their eyes were pitch black and they never blinked. I quickly finished my meal and ran out of the restaurant, never looking back.
