It was frightening when she turned to dust right in front of me. But now, 80 years later, I’m praying for someone to knock on this door. I remember the day I stumbled upon the old woman’s home, battered and bruised from the storm outside. She welcomed me in, offering me shelter from the harsh weather and a warm cup of tea.
But she had a condition. She told me that one day, I must offer the same hospitality I was now receiving to someone else in need. I agreed, not knowing what I was getting myself into.
The old woman was a kind soul and I was grateful for her help. But, as the days passed, I noticed something strange about her. She seemed to age faster than anyone I had ever seen.
One night, I awoke to a loud thud. I rushed to her room, only to find her lying on the floor in a pile of dust. I was horrified, but I knew I had to fulfill my promise to her.
For 80 years, I’ve been waiting for someone to knock on this door. I’m hoping to find someone in need of shelter, just like I was all those years ago. I’m not sure what will happen if I don’t find anyone, but I know I must honor the old woman’s wish.
