I better check the kids just to be safe. That’s what I told myself as I climbed up the stairs, the image of my wife’s lifeless body still fresh in my mind. I couldn’t believe what had happened. One day she was perfectly fine, and the next she was being controlled by some kind of alien parasite, hidden deep inside her mind. I had to act quickly to save my family. But now that she was gone, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something else might be lurking in our home.
As I reached the top of the stairs, I could hear my children sleeping peacefully in their beds. A wave of relief washed over me. Surely if the parasite had infected them, I would have noticed by now. But just to be sure, I quietly opened each of their doors and peeked inside.
The first room was empty, as expected. My son had always been a heavy sleeper. But when I looked in my daughter’s room, something was off. There was a faint buzzing sound, almost like an electrical current. And as I approached her bed, I could feel a chill running down my spine.
That’s when I saw it. The parasite, crawling out of her ear like a grotesque insect. I tried to scream, but my throat was paralyzed with fear. It was too late. The parasite had already taken hold, and there was nothing I could do to save her.
I backed out of the room slowly, watching in horror as my daughter’s body contorted and twisted, until it was no longer recognizable as human. And in that moment, I realized the true horror of the situation. The parasite wasn’t just controlling my wife. It had infected my entire family, and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it.
As I stumbled down the stairs, tears streaming down my face, I knew what I had to do. I had to destroy the parasite, no matter the cost. But deep down, I knew it was already too late. We were all doomed to a fate worse than death, controlled by an entity beyond our comprehension. And in that moment, I wished I had the courage to end it all right then and there. But that was just another horror story, one that would never come true. The end.
